 17th Dec 2011

Port Adelaide will kick off the 2012 SANFL Season on Friday 23 March under lights at Thebarton Oval against reigning Premiers, the Eagles.
The Magpies will again compete in the Foxtel Cup competition, taking on Subiaco in Round 1 at AAMI Stadium on Saturday 7 April.
The first Alberton home game for 2012 will be against arch rival Norwood on Sunday 15 April, in what is sure to be one of the biggest games of the season. All 10 home games in 2012 will return to Alberton Oval with the AFL curtain raiser games from 2011 on hold for this season.
Magpies General Manager Neil Rawlings added: “We still believe that in an ideal situation we’d be playing a couple of these per year, but the time between the games and also some of the costs involved meant that for 2012 we felt it best to revert to playing our SANFL home games all at Alberton but we’ll certainly review that again in future years. There is no doubt that our people enjoy the opportunity to see both their teams play on the one day and the players certainly enjoyed the opportunity to play at AAMI Stadium.”
Port Adelaide is scheduled to play both Central District and West Adelaide twice at home and then North Adelaide and the Eagles are the other 2 clubs that the Magpies play 3 times in 2012.
Senior Coach Tony Bamford said: “We are happy with the draw from a football perspective, with a good spread of byes which will also assist with our Foxtel Cup commitments throughout the year if we are good enough to progress. 2012 is a really important year for our group and we can’t wait to get into it.”
The club encourages all Port Adelaide supporters to buy their membership for 2012, and also to purchase a home match ticket so that 100% of your entry ticket cost on game day stays with the club.
