Port Adelaide Football Club U18 and reserves player Ben Sawford has received the Macca's Cup MVP nomination for Round 16.
Sawford is a product of the club's Country Football Academy and has come through to play in both the Magpies Reserves and U18 teams in 2012.
He developed as part of Port Adelaide junior country squad program and played in the annual SANFL Intrastate Championships.
Having recently located to Adelaide and living with Port Adelaide (AFL) trainer Mark Emes and wife Tina, 18-year-old Sawford played three games in the reserves prior to being dropped back to the club's Macca's Cup U18 squad.
His MVP nominated performance against the Roosters at Alberton Oval saw him promoted back into the reserves for last weekend's victory over Central District.
Port Adelaide's SANFL Development Manager Julian Farkas says that Sawford's MVP nomination is a testament to his professional approach to his football.
"He [Sawford] ensure that he does absolutely everything right," said Farkas.
"He controls what he can control [and is] very professional in the work he does on and off the field.
