The Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club purchased the lease of the Prince of Wales Hotel in early 2006.
The purchase of the hotel is an important venture for our club. However, our commitment to the Port Club remains unchanged.
The Port Club and Alberton Oval must always be the spiritual and physical home of the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club.
Located at 215 Port Road, Queenstown, about four minutes west of Alberton Oval the hotel is in our heartland, has strong food
and gaming trade, (32 machines) with the ability to improve the current bar turnover. The hotel is well presented and has been well
run by the Karpluk family, who have developed an excellent team of staff, which the club is keen to retain.
The purchase gives the Club the ability to secure its short to medium term future. The next three years will see an aggressive
debt reduction strategy in place, after which we envisage significant funds being released from the hotel into our junior and senior football programmes.
It has only been through the enormous support from our members and sponsors that this purchase has been financially possible.
Our high levels of income from membership, fundraising, sponsorship and the True Believers fund has stabilized our financial situation. Over the next few years maintaining those traditional forms of income will be critical as we seek to pay off our loan on the hotel purchase as quickly as possible.
